Concert Costume Change

Good afternoon families,

Due to tomorrows hot weather, we have had to change the costume to black skirts or shorts instead of pants. Students can just put their jackets on for the 3 minutes that they are on stage.  Students can bring a labelled water bottle as well.

Concert books are being sent home today.

Unfortunately I have my daughter’s graduation tomorrow night and will be unable to come, Renae will be looking after Room 11.

I hope you all have a lovely night. Both classes have been working extremely hard in preparation for tomorrow night.

Renae and I have also swapped days next week,  she is working Mon/Tues and I will be in on the Wed/Thurs/Fri.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Kind Regards

Bianca

school concert

Good evening Parents & Caregivers

Thursday is fast approaching and I know the children are super excited for it!

Just a reminder the children are to get back to school by 6:00pm, (6:15pm at the latest, meeting at the classroom first) so that we can get seated, ready for the concert to start at 6:30pm. The children will not be able to get up during the performance so please ensure they have a drink and some dinner before the concert starts.

Children will also not be permitted to leave early until the concert has finished. At that time, our class will meet on the oval, near the rotunda where parents will need to physically sign their children out. No signature means your child is missing and the police may be called!

If you have not received your concert note last week, this year the concert will be held on the soccer oval. Seats etc will not be permitted onto the oval until after 2pm.

Please have your child dressed in their costume when they arrive back at school (black pants/leggings, plain black/white t-shirt and a jacket: sports/bomber/denim).

We look forward to seeing you all then.

Kind regards

Mrs Simmons

Week 8 Spelling Words

Words this week are Oxford words. They all have their own lists but many didn’t have their diary today so they couldn’t record their words to bring home. If they have their diary tomorrow they can write them in the morning.

Grammar

Today we looked at homophones, worked in pairs to record as many as we could think of then shared our ideas with the class. The students were really interested in this and came up with many more examples than I have recorded. If the students look this up online there are over 400!

Maths

This week we have begun to work on division, one of the tasks was to divide 24 animals into four yards.  We have recorded how some students problem solved.

T- We put one in each yard till they were all gone and then we counted them.

H- We knew 6+6=12, 12+12= 24, so we put 6 in each yard.

M- We made 4 fences, put three at the bottom, three at the top and made arrays.

P- I counted by 2’s, then I double checked my answer.

K- I counted 24 and divided by 6

E- 6 go in each because I know 6+6=12 12+12=24.

Missing Readers

Dear Parents and Caregivers

As the year comes to an end we are starting stocktake of all our books and readers. Today I checked our reader boxes and there were at least 30 missing readers. I’m sure you agree with me that the number is staggering. I kindly ask that you have a good look at home and return any readers you have at home to myself or Ms Bianca.

Thank you in anticipation.

Hope you have a lovely weekend.

Kind regards

Mrs Simmons

PS please note all library books are due Monday as well.
