For the next few weeks we will be focusing on measurement.
Can you please bring along a named stuffed toy for measuring ready for Friday.
Today the students brainstormed as a class what they already know about measurement and here is some of their thinking.
Why do we measure things?
Adults need to be able to measure the size of the roots of the plant so you can get the perfect pot to fit.
If you are moving house you need to be able to measure if your table will fit in a box.
You have to measure how long things are – e.g. if you are getting a pool you need to know how long or big your backyard is so that you can fit your pool to your space.
For work – eg carpenters need to be able to measure how long tables are.
